Background:
|
Work continues on securing the next round of federal support that will be needed to protect students and schools from the financial crisis caused by the pandemic. MPS continues to work with our national and state-level partners in calling for at least $200 billion of the needed emergency funding for public schools. According to analysis conducted by the Learning Policy Institute, more than the $200 billion originally asked for will be needed over the next three years. In the attached bipartisan letter, 28 U.S. Senators, including Senator Baldwin, call for the additional funding for schools. We continue to wait for an update from the WI Legislative Fiscal Bureau to determine the forecast for revenue declines in the second year of the biennium.
