Background:
|
The Board's Legislative Policy Specialist will present the monthly update on legislative activities affecting MPS.
As of the writing of this update, officials at the federal level are working to pass legislation that provides the funding necessary to avoid a government shut down. At the state level Assembly Bill 693, concerning new provisions related to student discipline, received an extended hearing and drew strong and consistent opposition.
An update on the results of recent special elections will also be provided.
